Miho S.
Hi and Konnichiwa! My name is Miho. I was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan, and have been living in the USA since 1994. I graduated from college in both Japan and the U.S. and became a Japanese language instructor. I am a well-experienced language teacher and have been teaching for more than 20 years at universities and colleges in Rochester, New York. I have also collaborated with Japanese companies in the U.S., supporting them as a translator.
I believe that language is alive. Language is not just about an alphabet, and learning a language is not just memorizing alphabets and grammar. Language is one of our communication tools. It includes style, culture, and habits—how people communicate and interact with one another. My teaching style focuses not only on the language itself but also on its culture and traditions, including cultural manners and current events in society.
Successful language learners should be able to handle all written, verbal, and non-verbal forms of communication. I will be happy to teach the Japanese language as well as share my knowledge and experiences with my students.
