Chad W.
Hello, and welcome! My name is Chad, and I am passionate about sharing the beauty of American Sign Language (ASL) and fostering inclusive learning environments.
As a Deaf educator, my journey with language began early in life after I lost my hearing to spinal meningitis at eight months old. That experience shaped my deep belief in the power of communication access and inspired my career in education. Over the past eight years, I have taught ASL in high schools, community colleges, and universities, while also supporting students in special education settings. I hold a Master’s in Special Education, a Bachelor’s from RIT, and I am currently pursuing my 092 Certification in Educational Leadership.
My teaching philosophy centers on making language and culture come alive. I love using storytelling, interactive activities, and student-centered strategies that not only build skills but also spark curiosity and confidence. I believe that learning ASL is not just about communication—it’s about connection, community, and empowerment.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy sports, traveling, and finding creative ways to weave real-world experiences into my lessons. Whether through a story, a cultural reference, or even a touch of humor, I aim to make every learning experience memorable and meaningful.
